Contorniates, late 4th century. AE Contorniate (Orichalcum, 35 mm, 23.62 g, 12 h), in the name of Divus Augustus, died 14 AD. DIVVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Divus Augustus to right; in right field, engraved monogram. Rev. [AVRELIANVS] The charioteer Aurelian standing in quadriga to right, helmeted, holding wreath in his right hand and palm of victor in his left; the four horses with palms on their heads; below, four monograms. Alföldi -, cf. 145 (with Nero on the obverse). Mittag 161. Very rare. Minor spots of corrosion and part of the rim broken, otherwise, fine.
